Job Description

The Systems Engineer understands the overall team’s responsibilities and has the capability to think long term and big picture. This individual provides top quality services and solutions to our clients and maintains a high level of client satisfaction. The Systems Engineer will provide business knowledge and technical expertise to implement strategies, evaluate products, and build upon an infrastructure that supports the ever-changing needs of our customers. This individual may assist management in setting the overall direction, sets a positive example for other team members, and helps ensure the team is following the proper processes and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A BA/BS degree with 2 years of experience and/or an Associate degree with 4 or more years’ experience is preferred.
  • Managed IT services experience is highly desired (1-2 years or more preferred but not required).
  • Strong customer-orientation, well organized, and good communication and problem-solving skills are preferred.
  • Ability to manage expectations, develop, and maintain strong customer relationships is required.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Communicate with stakeholders to identify what they want a system to accomplish.
  • Use expert-level administration and optimization of hosts and servers to ensure high availability and appropriate resource management.
  • Standardize and automate processes and monitoring using scripting technology.
  • Install and configure operating systems, software, and hardware components, and clearly document the design, maintenance, and support procedures for routine tasks to leverage IT support staff.
  • Routinely test software for bugs, redundancies, and security issues.
  • Conduct high-level root-cause analysis for service interruption and establish preventive measures.
  • Create reports and documentation outlining findings and solutions; oversee the overall backup strategy and daily operations for secure backups and restore testing.
  • Provide technical support to end-users regarding hardware and application issues.
  • Working with clients’ server infrastructure environment to install DC and/or member servers, associated application support and maintenance.
  • Proficient with Virtualization technologies is required to design, implement, integrate and support virtual server infrastructure environments.
  • Accurately maintain documentation and comply with service administrative procedures, including service tickets and time entries.
  • Become a key contributor or expert with Direct Technologies’ internal tools.
  • Assisting with dispatching/ticketing as needed.
  • Familiar with networking concepts and midrange network skills.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Manage time & tasks efficiently and effectively.
  • Provide good problem-solving skills and customer service.
  • Experience with Enterprise security applications (Anti-Virus, Anti-Malware, etc.).
  • Experience with IP telephony phone solutions and technologies.
  • Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation.
