Responsibilities
Software Engineer opportunity to work for Computer Science for Data Intensive Applications Group reporting to the Group Supervisor. As a Big Data Analytics Software Engineer you will contribute to building a capability that will make an impact across our Institution and NASA:
You will work on our open-source big data analytics technology for analyzing massive amounts of observations and model data
Work directly with the project architect to ensure production infusion of the big data analytics technology into a Cloud environment
Work directly with project scientists to develop, optimize, and integrate parallel scientific algorithms (including geospatial and time-series analytics) as part of the scientific workflow
Design and develop web services to simplify access to analytics capabilities
Design and develop high availability, load balancing and auto-scaling architecture
Perform highly complex software system verification and validation
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science/Analytics or Mathematics with a minimum of 3 years experience; or a Master's with 1 years of related experience; or PhD with 0 years of related experience.
Experience with Python, Apache Spark, Cassandra, and Apache Solr/ElasticSearch
Experience with parallel scientific computing
Experience with RESTful webservice technology
Experience using and supporting Linux-based operating systems as a software development environment
Knowledge of secure coding practices
