Join us and start doing your life's best work.(sm)In this role you will work within Optum's Behavioral Health Solutions Group to develop/produce/monitor/maintain both scheduled and ad-hoc reports, queries, data visualizations, and/or other analytics projects for contractual and internal operational purposes. You will have the opportunity to work within a variety of data elements to write queries to perform a variety of data analysis tasks.You'll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. Primary Responsibilities:Work with customer to assess and interpret their data analytics/reporting needs and requirementsIdentify, create, and implement process and report improvements and efficiencies. Create and/or maintain business documentation / process flow, including work instructions, job aids, reference materialsDefine and/or ensure that report parameters are established consistent with data governance requirements (e.g., share minimally necessary data)Create and support of custom databases for trend monitoring and settingTest and verify the accuracy of incoming or received data and/or coding prior to generating automated reportsDevelop tests and/or software modules needed to assess the accuracy of data and/or coding used for report generationCollaborate and communicate with internal and external reporting customersLead special analysis projects; work with customers to understand business issues and questions and to appropriately frame them into analytical projectsApply analytical, mathematical and statistical techniques to investigating and interpreting data resultsPositions in this function are responsible for the management and manipulation of mostly structured data, with a focus on building business intelligence tools, conducting analysis to distinguish patterns and recognize trends, performing normalization operations and assuring data qualityDepending on the specific role and business line, example responsibilities in this function could include creating specifications to bring data into a common structure, creating product specifications and models, developing data solutions to support analyses, performing analysis, interpreting results, developing actionable insights and presenting recommendations for use across the companyRoles in this function could partner with stakeholders to understand data requirements and develop tools and models such as segmentation, dashboards, data visualizations, decision aids and business case analysis to support the organizationOther roles involved could include producing and managing the delivery of activity and value analytics to external stakeholders and clientsTeam members will typically use business intelligence, data visualization, query, analytic and statistical software to build solutions, perform analysis and interpret dataPositions in this function work on predominately descriptive and regression-based analytics and tend to leverage subject matter expert views in the design of their analytics and algorithmsGenerally work is self-directed and not prescribedWorks with less structured, more complex issuesServes as a resource to others

Required Qualifications:Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience in MIS, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Business or a related field 2+ Years of experience performing data analysis, report development, querying high volume data, and conducting and interpreting results 2+ years of experience communicating with clients to understand client needs and define report/analytics deliverables2+ years of experience building and executing data pulls using SQL and / or other BI reporting tools1+ years of experience with documenting processes and practices, often in accepted project methodology artifactsExperience manipulating / combining data from multiple sources to provide actionable information Experience prioritizing multiple tasks, priorities, projects, and deadlinesIntermediate level of proficiency with PC based applications- such as: Sharepoint, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, VisioIntermediate level of proficiency with automated database management systems and reporting tools such as: SQL, SSIS, SSRS, RStudio, Hyperion, TableauCareers with Optum.
